Raelene Haugen, Ed.D.

Instructor

Dr. Raelene Haugen has a love for learning and a passion to ignite growth.  With 30 years as a leader in K-College education, she is experienced in areas such as classroom instruction, curriculum design, international education, research, remote learning, project-based learning, experiential learning, and STEAM.  Currently, Dr. Haugen is a professor for the Department of Education with Westcliff University.  She is also the president of an educational consultancy.  In addition, her desire to contribute to educational success has manifested in roles such as assistant principal, accreditation chairperson, school newspaper editor, yearbook photography editor, and marketing/fundraising coordinator. 

Her education includes a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Education from the University of Minnesota, Masters degree in Elementary Education from La Sierra University, and a Doctorate of Education in Organizational Leadership from University of Massachusetts Global.  Her credentials include Elementary Education, Business Education, and Curriculum and Instruction.  Dr. Haugen’s teaching experience spans elementary, high school, and college levels.  

Dr. Haugen’s philosophy is that education should be practical, relevant, and contagious.  She is known for her creative, interactive approach and develops educational pathways to optimize success.  She believes in helping teachers and students be their best.  Additionally, she is a researcher and an author regarding effective instructional strategies, “Remote Learning – The Future of Education:  Effective Instructional Strategies Used by Parent Educators and Recommendations for Building Capacity.” 

In her free time, Dr. Haugen enjoys traveling, adventure, sunshine, photography, outdoor activities, and spending time with loved ones.  She cherishes her two grown children who bring her joy as well as their young families – including her toddler grandson.

In her journey as an educational leader, Dr. Haugen has learned to appreciate three virtues:  effective leadership comes from the heart; transformational change begins with inspiration and vision; and leadership can occur at many levels, across many spectrums.
