Westcliff University’s Inspiring Staff of the Year
At Westcliff University, we are fortunate to have many dedicated and passionate staff members who go above and beyond to support our students. One such standout is Claire, a student services advisor supervisor, who was recently honored with the prestigious Staff of the Year award.
Westcliff Students’ Biggest Cheerleader
Claire, who started as a student advisor, quickly moved up to a supervisory role due to her incredible hands-on guiding approach with students, and unwavering positivity. A born and raised Southern California local, her infectious energy and ever-present smile make her a comforting and reliable presence for her team and for students navigating their educational and personal journeys. Claire describes herself as “Westcliff students’ biggest cheerleader.” Something that comes naturally to her as she was in fact a cheerleader at her alma mater, Vanguard University. Whether it be recommending the right classes or the best beaches, patiently listening to concerns or energetically motivating a tired co-worker, she is an incredible resource to everyone.
Inspired by Students’ Success
Claire and all of Westcliff’s student advisors play a crucial role in shaping the academic paths of our students. They assist with creating personalized program plans, ensuring students enroll in the necessary classes, and so much more. Claire’s dedication to her students is evident in every interaction. She says the most rewarding part of her job is witnessing students’ success: “It is so rewarding to see students grow throughout their time at Westcliff and meet their educational goals to succeed in their even larger career and life aspirations.”
Personal Approach to Advising
Claire takes a personal approach to advising. She takes the time to truly get to know each student, understanding their goals, challenges, and even their weekend plans. Claire shared a recent experience, saying, “I was just on the phone this morning helping out a student who is on the surf team, and now I have plans to go watch their competition coming up.” This level of personal touch and genuine interest is a hallmark of Claire’s work and a key reason she was chosen for this esteemed award.
One of Claire’s colleagues highlighted her impact, stating, “It was not a surprise she won. Claire’s energy is incredible and even more so you can tell she truly cares. She cares about her students, her co-workers, and Westcliff. She is fantastic at what she does.”
Founder of Westcliff’s Yoga Club
Beyond her role as an advisor supervisor, Claire is also the founder of Westcliff’s yoga club. She regularly hosts yoga sessions for students, alumni, and staff, fostering a sense of community and well-being. These sessions take place at the beautiful main campus in Irvine, local parks, or even at the beach, a short drive from the university.
