Westcliff University Empowers Young Riders at iCanShine Bike Camp, Kicking Off a Season of Giving
Westcliff University is making waves in the community with its recent involvement in the iCanShine Bike Camp, where children with special needs learned to ride bicycles, an experience that fostered both independence and confidence. Held in partnership with Unlimited Possibilities, this week-long camp saw Westcliff students, staff, and faculty join forces with 100 community volunteers to support these young riders, with the university covering all participation fees and providing significant financial backing. As fall approaches, Westcliff is gearing up for a series of impactful events, including August Volunteer Month, where OC United Way’s No Sew Blanket Activity allows volunteers to create cozy, no-sew blankets to provide comfort to those in need and Be My Eyes offers a virtual volunteer opportunity to assist visually impaired individuals with everyday tasks via a simple app. September will bring the STEPtember charity challenge for cerebral palsy research and the vibrant International Food and Culture Festival. In October, Westcliff University, in partnership with Inclusive Sports Foundation, will host the third Inclusive Sports Day, an athletic, carnival-style event for local students with disabilities. Westcliff, staff, faculty, and student athletes will run interactive stations, leading the students through a variety of games and sports in an inclusive, fun, and engaging environment.
