AREAS OF EXPERTISE:
Dr. Suij-Ojeda is a distinguished teacher educator, holding a Ph.D. in education with a specialization in language didactics. She earned her initial master’s degree in Spanish reading and writing, and later pursued a second master’s in teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). With a respected career spanning 26 years, Dr. Suij-Ojeda has served as a dedicated Spanish/English teacher, teacher-educator and ELT consultant in more than 20 countries. From 2003 to 2014, Dr.Suij-Ojeda contributed significantly to the academic field as a university professor, academic director, and teacher-trainer at the Universidad de Carabobo, Faculty of Education in Venezuela. During her tenure, she skillfully led the modern language department and coordinated diverse courses related to language teaching and learning.
A committed member of VenTESOL since 1999, her journey began as a regional representative, leading to her pivotal role as VenTESOL president from 2013 to 2015. She continues to contribute as an advisor to the organization, showcasing her enduring dedication. Additionally, she remains an active member of the TESOL International Association. Dr. Suij-Ojeda’s professional interests are wide-ranging, encompassing areas such as professional development, blended learning, written corrective feedback, creative writing, and reading.
