Alumni Mixer Unites Warriors for Sunset Soiree
The Westcliff University Leap Day Alumni Mixer unfolded against the stunning backdrop of Southern California’s Pacific Ocean sunset views, painting an unforgettable scene. Held at the private back terrace of SOL Mexican Cocina Restaurant in Newport Beach, the event marked the beginning of an evening filled with camaraderie and celebration, epitomizing the vibrant spirit of the Westcliff alumni community. With more than 50 attendees, the gathering buzzed with engaging conversations, delectable cuisine, and an overwhelming sense of Westcliff community togetherness.
Amidst laughter and reminiscences, alumni shared anecdotes of their Westcliff journey, from the exhilarating highs of defending doctoral theses to the poignant moments of receiving diplomas amidst the support of loved ones from around the globe. Anticipation for Westcliff’s upcoming commencement ceremony on June 7, 2024, was a hot topic of conversation, as graduates eagerly made plans to reunite and honor the achievements of the newest class of Warriors and cheer on friends who eagerly await their chance to walk across the stage just as they had. Career updates flowed freely, with attendees gleefully exchanging news of professional milestones and offering invaluable advice and support to their peers. As one participant joyfully remarked, “It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow alumni and gain insights into their career paths.”
These gatherings serve as touching reminders of the enduring bonds forged at Westcliff, offering alumni a platform to reconnect with old friends and forge new connections. Mariah Barabe, Westcliff’s alumni affairs coordinator, expressed heartfelt joy at witnessing long-lost friends rekindling their connections. Emphasizing the significance of a robust alumni network, Mariah underscored its potential to foster career opportunities, lasting friendships, and shared experiences. “Our events aim to empower alumni to celebrate their achievements and take pride in their identity as Westcliff Warriors,” she remarked passionately. The event was a true success by any measure, a sentiment shared by Director of Alumni Affairs & Career Services, Amy Dibello, who said, “Our Leap Day Alumni Mixer was a wonderful event that brought alumni together in a warm setting that overlooked the Newport Beach Harbor at sunset. We all enjoyed fine fare, shared stories and made new friends. It was a truly memorable time for all.”
Energized by the sense of community, attendees unanimously hailed the mixer as one of the most unforgettable Westcliff events, eagerly anticipating future gatherings. Fortunately, the wait for the next reunion will be brief, as Westcliff’s Alumni Affairs and Career Services gear up to host the bi-annual Alumni Showcase at the end of April. This eagerly anticipated virtual event will feature a panel of distinguished alumni sharing their Westcliff journey, insights into navigating the visa process, and strategies for thriving in today’s competitive job market. All alumni and friends of Westcliff are warmly invited to participate in this enriching experience, with details forthcoming.
