Associate Professor Ahmed Adeyemi Earns Faculty of the Year Award at Westcliff University
Congratulations are in order as Westcliff University is thrilled to acknowledge Ahmed Adeyemi on earning the prestigious Faculty of the Year award in the College of Technology and Engineering! This recognition marks a significant milestone in Professor Adeyemi’s academic career, highlighting his unshakable dedication to student success and impact on the broader Westcliff academic community.
“Winning the award, it was something that came out of the blue, and I really appreciate it,” says Adeyemi, “Honestly speaking, I think it is a huge honor, considering that I don’t really get to see my peers as much, so I think it speaks volumes.”
Empowering Students for Long-Term Success
Adeyemi attributes much of his success in receiving this award to his students and acknowledges that their positive word-of-mouth played a crucial role. This enthusiastic endorsement is a testament to Adeyemi’s noticeable ability to connect with his students and empower them during his lectures. In the classroom, Adeyemi is deeply dedicated to bringing out the best in his students and makes sure to equip them with the skills and confidence needed to succeed beyond the university.
“My goal is to find experience across all the students to help them achieve their best,” he notes. “We will get you to the place that you want to be, if you’re struggling with English, we’re going to get you to that point where you’re going to feel comfortable enough to go out and have a dialogue with other people.”
International Roots
Born in Brooklyn, New York, and raised in Nigeria and various parts of the world, Adeyemi brings a unique and global perspective to Westcliff’s faculty staff. Having experienced life as an international student firsthand, he understands the challenges and complexities that come with pursuing education and a life in unfamiliar surroundings. Adeyemi’s firsthand experience as an international student equips him with a deep understanding of the complexities involved. He is passionate about encouraging all students — whether they are native English speakers or learning English as a second language — to be confident in their abilities.
“Come with your full self,” says Adeyemi. “It doesn’t matter if you are from a traditionally English-speaking country or English as a second language [for you], everyone is welcome.”
Mamba Mentality
Education isn’t Adeyemi’s only passion — he’s also a dedicated sports fan who regularly attends various events throughout Los Angeles. In his free time, you’ll often find him at Crypto.com Arena catching as many Los Angeles Lakers games as possible with his son where they enthusiastically cheer on their favorite team. He’s such a passionate Lakers fan that a loss can dampen his entire day. “Unfortunately, if they’re having a bad game, I literally have a bad day.”
Above all, Adeyemi is a devoted family man through and through. He explains, “They keep me engaged. They keep me level-headed. If I want to go to this game, we’ll all go together, or I have to choose who’s coming with me — either my son or maybe my wife.”
Just as his students keep him inspired, his family supports him in becoming a better professor each and every day. This motivation drives him to bring the same sense of connection and enthusiasm into the classroom.
We’d like to congratulate Professor Ahmed Adeyemi once again for earning the Faculty of the Year award in the College of Technology and Engineering! His dedication to his students and passion for education are truly commendable. As he states, “we’re going to give you tools. We’re going to work with you enough to understand how to look for a job, and more.”
We’re proud to have him as part of the Westcliff University family and are excited for the continued impact he’ll have on our academic community.
Well done, Professor Adeyemi!
